Dragon Attacks in the open world
An open-world Dragon Attack is not an Ancient Lands expedition or a Dragon Sanctuary raid. It happens in the world, uses the surrounding zone’s risks and allows players to contribute without entering a twenty-player instance.
Use the map warning, not a guessed schedule
Dragon Attacks announce themselves on the world map. Royal Continent warnings are shorter; Outlands warnings can appear hours ahead. The official announcements used here do not provide one fixed countdown that can be applied to every attack.
The world atlas shows locations and their connections. It does not have a live feed of Dragon spawns, so a fixed marker on it would not tell you where the next attack is occurring. Check the game’s live warning before traveling.
Contribute to the encounter
Players contribute damage until the Dragon retreats. The launch announcement describes a reward chest for players who contributed to the fight. Solo players can participate; a small party is not excluded merely because it is not a raid group.
There is no verified universal damage number in the source material used for this guide. Do not assume that one hit guarantees rewards. Continue following the encounter’s contribution and objective feedback in game.
Prepare for the zone around the Dragon
The Dragon does not turn the surrounding world into a safe instance. Match your equipment and carried inventory to the zone’s rules and consider the return trip with rewards. Outlands participation can also provide Might and Favor.
The trade calculator can estimate a cargo’s value and weight once you have the items. It does not calculate the chance of being killed, reserve market orders, or identify a guaranteed safe route.
Choose the activity you actually need
For island progression, Leygate Keystones and Spirit Essence, use the Ancient Lands guide. For Waystone entry, Maeve and Azaryon, use the Dragon Sanctuary guide.
These activities share a reward ecosystem but not their entry method, party structure or item-power rules. Prepare for the encounter you are entering rather than transferring a cap or timer from another Dragonfire activity.
